Priestly Ordination in the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua

The Catholic Diocese of Koforidua celebrated a joyful and memorable Priestly Ordination on Saturday, 4 July 2026, at Blessed Sacrament Parish, Akyem Ntronang. The occasion brought together clergy, religious, family members, parishioners, and well-wishers to witness and celebrate the gift of three new priests to the Church. The principal celebrant was the Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, DD, PhD, Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Accra. In his homily and words of exhortation, he encouraged the ordinands to embrace their priestly vocation with humility, fidelity, prayer, and a deep commitment to serving God and His people. The ordination ceremony was marked by the solemn rites of the Catholic priesthood, including the laying on of hands and the Prayer of Ordination. The three ordinands were thereby configured more closely to Christ and entrusted with the sacred ministry of preaching the Gospel, celebrating the Sacraments, and shepherding God’s people. The celebration was a significant moment of thanksgiving for the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua, as the Church welcomed three new labourers into the Lord’s vineyard. The presence and prayers of the faithful served as a strong reminder that priestly vocations are nurtured by families, parishes, and the wider Christian community. As the newly ordained priests begin their ministry, the Diocese gives thanks to God for the gift of their vocations and entrusts their priestly journey to the guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit.
